Grasses are everywhere. I don't mean the green stuff on your back garden, but true grasses!
At Pleasley much of the grass has been introduced, but we are now beginning to see other species, either self setting, or hybridizing with those already established.
Soft Brome grass (shown below) is part of the farmers field called Mipit Meadow which has been planted for grazing. This grass is now starting to colonise on the main site, first being spotted near the woodyard (2007) and now moving in to the flower meadow (2008)
Some of the grasses on site include;
Perennial Ryegrass - Lolium perenne (shown below)
Cocksfoot - Dactylis glomerata
Creeping Bent - Agrostis stolonifera
Velvet Bent - Agrostis canina
Crested Dogs Tail - Cynosurus cristatus
Sweet Vernal Grass - Anthoxanthum oderata (shown below)
Quaking Grass - Briza media (shown below)

Timothy Grass - Phleum pratense
Meadow Foxtail - Alopercurus pratense (shown below)

Yorkshire Fog - Holcus lanatus
Creeping fescue - Festuca litoralis
Yellow Oat Grass - Trisetum flavescens (shown below)
Tall Oat Grass - Arrena'herum elatius (shown below)
